Hezena Lemaletian has penned an emotional letter to Raila Odinga, thanking him for nominating her to the senate. Here is the letter she wrote on her official Facebook page:
*IT’S TIME TO HONOUR THIS MAN RAILA ODINGA*
You always carry a handkerchief in your hand. A visible testament of the scars you have endured for over 3 decades, carrying a THANKLESS country on your back and dragging it towards freedom.
Your life is a textbook on betrayal, a litany of tears, pain and suffering. Friends have used and dumped you. Those you trusted have become the very snakes that bite you. Those you have raised and mentored and nurtured from nowhere, now chest thumb and say they made you PM.
The prize has been so near you could taste it, only for it to be snatched from your grasp. Painfully.
You lost your health. Wealth. Your son. Had your daughter go blind.
Yet you have not given up, and in your resilience, millions have found hope.
You have almost singlehandedly shaped Kenya’s democratic space, when those you started with became turncoats and abandoned ship.
A lot has been said of you. And you have had your faults, shortcomings, as any human being.
But I say this. What you have done for this country, the good you have brought, could only be by a man used by God. As the Bible says, no man could do this things unless God were with him.
People who abuse and vilify you can only do so because you fought for them to have that space.
Your place in history remains. Shining bright.
Your legacy is known worldwide.
Let us give honour where it is due. And salute a true Kenyan son. An African patriot who seemed like a threat to neocolonialism. I understand a lot now. A lot, Baba.
YOU ARE MY HERO. Some may say they have lost hope but to me, Baba,
YOU HAVE IGNITED A DREAM. A DREAM SO POWERFUL AND SO RENEWED.
